Understanding OEM Subscriptions
OEM Subscriptions are the Azuga entity that connects a vehicle to its cloud data stream. They serve to take the place of a plug-in GPS device. There are some great benefits to using OEM data streams to connect your vehicles, which you can read more about here.
When you add new OEM-connected vehicles to your Fleet or swap OBD-connected vehicles to OEM, Azuga will create an “OEM subscription” that has a series of properties that are useful to understand when managing OEM-connected vehicles in the Azuga platoform.
An OEM subscription is considered active when three things are true:
- Consent to share data is complete: read more here
- The subscription has been activated – requests to activate a vehicle’s embedded telematics can take a trip or two before the over-the-air commands are acknowledged by the vehicle
- Data is being received from the OEM’s cloud, and tracking is live in Azuga.
