Installation of AI SafetyCam:
Step 1: Power Supply to the AI SafetyCam:
The AI Safetycam should always be connected to a constant power supply. There are 2 ways in which the AI Safetycam can be connected to a constant power supply:
Option 1 (recommended): Via Y cable to the OBD-II port
- Locate the vehicle’s diagnostic port. The port is usually found below the steering wheel.
Switch off the vehicle or the unit on which the power supply connection is performed.
Connect the Safetycam to the OBD-II port using the Y-cable.
- If you already have Azuga’s datalogger installed in the vehicle:
- Remove the datalogger from the vehicle’s port and plug the female end of the Y-cable into the port.
- Connect the datalogger to one end of the Y-cable.
Attach the connector end of the safetycam's power cable to the other end of the Y-cable.
- If you are installing Azuga’s datalogger and the camera for the first time in the vehicle:
- Plug the female end of the Y-cable into the vehicle’s port.
- Connect the datalogger to one end of the Y-cable.
- Attach the connector end of the safetycam's power cable to the other end of the Y-cable.
- If you already have Azuga’s datalogger installed in the vehicle:
- Connect the other end of the power cable to the safetycam to complete the process.
- Start your vehicle to test the safetycam.
- Once you have tested your safetycam, run the power cable along the headliner of the vehicle from the A-Pillar to the power source.
Option 2: Hardwire to the vehicle fuse box
Refer to the document below for more information about hardwiring the AI safetycam to the fusebox of the vehicle.

Note:
|
Step 2: Format your SD Card:
Note:
|
- When you are in the parked vehicle with the parking brake on, the ignition on, and the door closed, press the touchscreen of the safetycam to view the PIN screen.
- Enter the default PIN 3333 to unlock the safetycam for the first time, or your own PIN subsequently.
- Press Settings.
- Select Format SD card.
Step 3: Check for Network Connectivity:
- Connect your safetycam to a power source.
- Enter your PIN on the screen.
Check the touchscreen to see network connection bars. The connection is active when there is no X across the bars.
If there is an X across the bars, the SIM may be fine, but you might be in a location with a poor network. When there is no X, the signal should be sufficient for all functions to run.
- If the network connection is active, then proceed with the next step.
Step 4: Mount the AI SafetyCam & Set the Viewing Angles:
Note:
|
- Attach the mounting bracket onto the safetycam. Once attached, the mounting bracket locks the safetycam into position.
- When you are in the parked vehicle with the parking brake on, the ignition on, and the door closed, press the touchscreen of the safetycam to view the PIN screen.
- Enter the default PIN 3333 to unlock the safetycam for the first time, or your own PIN subsequently.
- Press Live View. Use the arrow keys to toggle between the road-facing and in-cab views.
- Use the special screwdriver that was included in the box to loosen the three security screws on the round side of the safetycam when adjusting the viewing angles. Do not remove the screws fully.
- Adjust the viewing angle of the road-facing lens by rotating the body of the safetycam; then adjust the viewing angle of the in-cab lens by rotating the ring. Make sure all the viewing angles are set correctly.
- Use Live View to position both the road-facing and in-cab lenses in the proper directions. Use the arrow keys to toggle between the views.
- When positioning the safetycam, place it as high as possible on the driver's side of the vehicle.
Note: Some jurisdictions have regulations that prohibit or restrict where objects can be placed on the windshield. Be sure to comply with applicable law. |
- Ensure that:
a. there is a clear view of the driver's upper body
Note: When using MV+AI, the driver's upper body must be in view of the in-cab lens. |
b. there is a clear view of the road
c. the safetycam doesn't obstruct the driver's field of vision
d. the safetycam is in the vehicle's wiper path so the road-facing lens is not obstructed by rain or snow
e. nothing in the cab blocks the in-cab lens, such as sun visors, blinds, or mirrors
Note: If the safetycam does not capture the driver’s upper body, place the safetycam below the rearview mirror, as high as possible without obstructing the safetycam's view of the driver. |
Note:
|
10. Remove the adhesive tape cover and mount the safetycam onto the windshield.
11. Tighten the side screws when finished. Once the screws are tightened, the two lenses can be tilted forwards or backwards together but not separately.
Step 5: Calibrate the AI SafetyCam Accelerometer:
The AI safetycam contains internal sensors that detect risky driving events. Calibration of the sensors is required before using the AI safetycam.
Note:
|
- Turn off the vehicle ignition.
- Check that the safetycam is on.
- Press the touchscreen of the safetycam to view the PIN screen.
- Enter the default PIN 3333 to unlock the safetycam for the first time, or your own PIN subsequently.
- Press Settings.
- Press Calibration.
The calibration process takes about a second and once completed, the status changes from Not Done to Done.
Note: If the safetycam is moved to another vehicle, it should be recalibrated. |

Vehicle Association on Azuga Platform:
Note:
|
- Navigation: Admin >> Devices >> SafetyCam
- Check for associated vehicle names in the Vehicle Name field.
a. If the vehicle name is present, then there is an active vehicle association.
b. If the vehicle name is not present, associate the camera with a vehicle by clicking on Edit.
c. Select the Associated Vehicle from the drop-down list and Submit.
