Understanding Beacon Button Press Pairing
1. Is vehicle-driver pairing automatic?
In addition to the button press pairing, Azuga provides the option of auto beacon detection. To get this activated, please reach out to customercare@azuga.com.
2. How long do I have to press the button on the beacon to get connected?
The Beacon card has an external push button at the centre. Once the driver enters the vehicle and turns the ignition on, he/she needs to press the button on the beacon card 30 seconds after the trip starts to get paired with the vehicle (a single press of the button is needed). On pressing the button, the driver will observe a red LED.

3. What does the red LED on the beacon signify?
The red LED observed on the beacon card acknowledges the driver notifying the beacon button press action.
4. How do I claim the trip if I forgot to press the button?
If you forgot to press the button at the start of the trip and if the trip ended and the button was pressed, unfortunately, there would be no change and the trip cannot be claimed.
5. What is the detection range for the beacon button/beacon, is there a logic to pair based on the range?
The Bluetooth range for the beacon card is 10-15 meters, and the device will not detect the beacon if it goes out of range.
6. Is it possible to use both the Beacon button and Beacon pairing method at the same time?
No, it is not possible to use both the Beacon button and Beacon pairing method at the same time. An account can have only one active pairing type at the same time.
7. What happens if I press the button post completion of the trip?
The button on the beacon has to be pressed after 30 seconds after the ignition of the vehicle is turned on. If you forgot to press the button at the start of the trip and if the trip ended and the button was pressed, unfortunately, there would be no change and the trip cannot be claimed.
8. When should I press the button on the beacon?
The Button on the beacon should be pressed after 30 seconds after the ignition of the vehicle is turned on.
9. I already have Beacon cards with buttons, can I use the same for this feature?
As a member of the Azuga Program, you can enrol your beacon cards to access the button feature. Please contact customercare@azuga.com to get started.
10. If there are other drivers also in my vehicle carrying the beacon, and if they press the button on the beacon, does it mean they get paired?
The pairing depends on the setting done for your account. By default, if any other driver in the vehicle presses the button on the beacon added to the account, the other driver will get paired to the vehicle and claim the trip from that moment and will unpair the connected driver. If you want to change this setting, and don’t want the last button pressed event to impact the pairing, reach out to customercare@azuga.com.
11. Where can I see the beacon events on the mobile application?
The beacon events like Beacon button pressed, Paired via beacon button and Unpaired via beacon are visible on the Live Maps and Breadcrumb report on the mobile application.
12. You had mentioned beacon cards work on Bluetooth. Will Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals cause interference?
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi share the same 2.4GHz frequency spectrum which might cause the signals to interfere with each other and might cause interference.
