ELD IOS - May Updates 2026
Improvements:
- We’ve improved how the system handles unidentified driver events on iOS to better align with regulatory requirements and ensure accurate duty status tracking.
- We’ve enhanced the Canada Cycle 2 Hours of Service (HOS) calculation logic to correctly treat continuous Sleeper Berth and Off Duty time as valid off duty periods when evaluating the mandatory 24 hour break requirement under CCMTA Rule 27.
Deep Dive Improvements
Unidentified Driver Status Transition Update
What’s New:
- The status transition from Driving → OnDuty (ND) for unidentified drivers has been updated:
- 6 minutes for FMCSA and CCMTA
- Previously, this transition occurred after 1 minute, which could lead to non-compliant and inaccurate logs.
Updated Behavior:
- When a vehicle stops during an unidentified driving event:
- The system now waits for the configured duration 6 minutes before changing the status to OnDuty (ND)
This update helps provide more accurate unidentified driver status handling and improved compliance alignment on iOS.

Improved 24-Hour Break Calculation for Sleeper Berth
This update improves compliance accuracy and prevents incorrect violations from being generated for drivers who complete valid rest periods using a combination of Off-Duty and Sleeper Berth statuses.
Background
Under Canada Cycle 2 regulations, drivers must take at least 24 consecutive hours of off-duty time before accumulating more than 70 hours of on duty time.
Previously, the system did not fully consider continuous Sleeper Berth time as part of the required 24-hour off-duty break calculation. As a result, drivers could incorrectly receive violations even after completing valid rest periods that combined Off-Duty and Sleeper statuses.
Example:
14 hours Off Duty + 10 hours Sleeper Berth was incorrectly treated as invalid, despite meeting the 24-hour break requirement.
What’s Improved
Sleeper Berth Included in 24 Hour Break Calculation:
Continuous Sleeper Berth time is now treated as Off-Duty time for mandatory 24-hour break calculations under:
- Canada 120hr / 14days South (Cycle 2)
- Canada 120hr / 14days North (Cycle 2)
This ensures valid combinations of Off-Duty and Sleeper Berth time are correctly recognized.

Key Benefits
- Maintain more accurate Canada Cycle 2 compliance records
- Reduce false positive HOS violations
- Support real world driver rest patterns using Sleeper Berth time
- Improve operational confidence during audits and inspections
