ELD Android - April Updates 2026

Improvements

➔    We’ve enhanced the logic for handling unidentified driver events to better align with regulatory requirements and ensure more accurate duty status transitions.

Improvements Deep Dive

Improved Unidentified Driver Status Transition Timing

Previously, when a vehicle stopped during an unidentified driving event, the system automatically transitioned the status to OnDuty after 1 minute. This behavior did not comply with regulatory standards for FMCSA and CCMTA, could result in inaccurate driver logs.

What’s New:

1.      Updated OnDuty Transition Timing

  • The system now applies a standardized transition time of 6 minutes before changing an unidentified driving status to OnDuty
  • This ensures alignment with both FMCSA and CCMTA requirements and avoids premature status changes

2.     Improved Handling of Driver Return Scenarios

  • If a driver logs back in before the 6-minute threshold, the OnDuty status is not created, preventing unnecessary or incorrect events
  • Only valid and completed unidentified driving events are recorded

3.     Accurate Behavior During App Shutdown

  • If the mobile device is turned off before the 6-minute timer completes, the system records the OnDuty transition at the time of shutdown
  • This ensures no loss of data and maintains accurate event timelines

4.    Consistent Event Recording Across Systems

  • Unidentified driving and corresponding OnDuty events are now recorded consistently across the mobile app, portal, and backend
  • Ensures reliable synchronization and accurate logs for audits and compliance

Impact:

This enhancement improves regulatory compliance, ensures more accurate driver logs, and provides better handling of real-world scenarios such as driver re-login and device shutdowns, resulting in a more reliable and consistent ELD experience.
