ELD iOS - August Updates 2025

Improvements:

➔ We've introduced a new log event to automatically track when a driver powers their phone back on. You’ll now see a “Phone Powered On” remark recorded in the logs and portal.

➔ We've added support for displaying and switching between miles and kilometers for odometer offset in the Equipment Settings. This ensures consistency across regions like the US and Canada and provides flexibility based on your fleet's preferences.

➔ We’ve improved Post-Trip DVIR behavior on iOS so that alerts and remarks now follow the exact preferences set in the portal. This ensures consistent, predictable handling whether the Prompt, remark, or both are enabled.

➔ We've added support to display the ELD Certification ID in the Certify Logs PDF and Data Transfer reports for both the USA and Canada cycles, ensuring clear regulatory compliance.

➔ Drivers can now certify multiple consecutive off-duty or sleeper logs in one action, simplifying compliance after extended breaks.

➔ We've improved how recalculations are handled after an operating zone change to ensure accurate HOS compliance and avoid incorrect violations.

Improvements

Mobile Power On Event Now Logged for Better Visibility

To improve visibility into driver activity and device behavior, the ELD app now captures a mobile-level “Phone Powered On” event as a system-generated remark.

  • Phone Powered On – logged when the device is turned back on and the app is relaunched.

This remark appears on the Logs screen in the ELD app and is also synced to the Azuga portal. This enhancement ensures better visibility into phone activity, making it easier to investigate any gaps in trip logs or data reporting.

Odometer Offset Now Supports Miles and Kilometers in Mobile App

The Odometer Offset setting under Settings > Equipment now includes a toggle to switch between Miles and Kilometers. By default, the unit is set to Miles for US-based accounts and Kilometers for Canadian accounts.

If users switch the unit and save, the value is automatically converted and displayed in the newly selected unit. This update ensures that mobile and portal odometer data remain consistent, region-appropriate, and easily interpretable by fleet administrators and drivers alike.

Post-Trip DVIR behavior

We’ve improved how the iOS app handles Post-Trip DVIR alerts and remarks, so that it now fully follows the preferences set in the portal.

What’s Improved:

  • The app now respects the two portal preferences:
    • Dialog → whether a Post-Trip DVIR prompt is shown at logout.
    • Remark → whether a “Post Trip Missing” remark is created.
  • The behavior is now consistent across all combinations:
    • Dialog = ON / Remark = OFF → Prompt is shown, no remark created if driver taps “No.”
    • Dialog = OFF / Remark = OFF → No Prompt, no remark.
    • Dialog = OFF / Remark = ON → No Prompt, no remark.
    • Dialog = ON / Remark = ON → Prompt is shown, and if driver taps “No,” both a remark and alert are created.

Additional Notes:

  • Sync required: Changes made in the portal take effect in the app after the next sync.
  • Offline: If no network is available, the last synced preference will continue to apply.
  • Upgrade handling: After upgrading from an older build, the correct default (Dialog = ON, Remark = OFF) will apply unless updated in the portal.

With this update, drivers will only see the Post-Trip DVIR Prompt or remark behavior that administrators have specifically chosen, ensuring a more predictable and compliant workflow.

ELD Certification ID Now Shown in Certify Logs PDF

The Certify Logs PDF and Data Transfer reports now include the accurate ELD Certification ID based on the equipment type selected.

This enhancement resolves previous inconsistencies where the wrong or missing certification ID was shown depending on the selected equipment or operating zone.

  • For valid equipment types, the correct ID is now shown in both USA and Canada cycles.
  • For equipment set as ‘None’, data transfer is restricted, and appropriate behavior is maintained.
  • If the equipment type is changed, the certification ID updates accordingly once the driver uncertifies and re-certifies their logs.

Bulk Certification for Off-Duty Logs

We’ve enhanced the log certification process to reduce the effort required for drivers returning from extended off-duty periods (e.g., vacation). Previously, drivers had to certify each day’s log one by one. With this update, drivers can now select multiple consecutive off-duty/sleeper logs and certify them in a single action.

This improvement ensures faster compliance, fewer repetitive steps, and a smoother user experience. Logs with On-Duty or Driving events remain ineligible for multi-day certification to maintain regulatory accuracy.

How It Works:

  1. When drivers log in, the Uncertified Logs dialog appears if there are pending logs.
  2. Selecting an uncertified off-duty log will automatically select all prior consecutive off-duty/sleeper logs.
  3. Tapping Certify applies certification to all selected logs at once, and a confirmation email is sent.
  4. Once all uncertified logs are addressed, the dialog will no longer appear at logout.
  5. If a driver chooses to Uncertify a log, all logs from that date through the current date will be uncertified together.

This feature significantly reduces manual effort, making log certification more efficient while ensuring compliance with HOS regulations.

Improved Recalculation Logic for Operating Zone Changes

Previously, when a driver changed their operating zone, the app would recalculate HOS rules starting from either the previous shift reset or the last zone change, sometimes resulting in inaccurate violations due to overlapping rules from different zones.

With this update, the recalculation will now start from the moment the operating zone is changed, and in cases where the driver is actively in Driving status, it will start from one event prior to the zone change. This ensures cleaner transitions between zones and more accurate compliance checks.
