What types of events do SafetyCam Plus and SafetyCam Pro detect?

Below is a list of events supported by both the SafetyCam Plus and SafetyCam Pro:

  • Driver Monitoring System (DMS) Events:
    • Using Phone: Triggered when the driver visibly uses a phone to call or text.
    • No Seatbelt: Triggered when the driver is visibly not wearing a seatbelt.
    • Distracted Driving: Triggered when the driver is not focusing on the road and looks away for a significant amount of time.
    • Possible Fatigue: Triggered when the driver closes their eyes for an extended period or exhibits fatigue, such as nodding their head repeatedly.
    • Obstruction: Triggered when the driver-facing lens is completely blocked by an obstacle, such as a sun visor, hanging objects, dirt, or an accidental covering by the driver’s hand or clothing.
  • Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Events:
    • Lane Departure: Triggered when the vehicle drives on top of lane markings for an extended time.
    • Critical Distance: Triggered when the vehicle gets too close to the vehicle in front for a brief moment.
    • Tailgating: Triggered when the vehicle follows too closely behind another vehicle for an extended period.
Important: The tailgating event should be considered riskier than the critical distance event, as it indicates that the vehicle has been maintaining a dangerously close distance for an extended period.
  • Impact-Based Events:
    • Collision Detected – AI Cam: Triggered when the SafetyCam detects a high G-force while the vehicle is in motion, indicating a possible collision.
    • Violent Turn: Triggered when a significant G-force is detected due to a sharp turn to the left or right while the vehicle is in motion.
    • Vibration/Impact: Triggered when a considerable G-force is detected while the vehicle is stationary, potentially indicating an external impact or disturbance.

Additional Event Support (for Data Logger/OEM Configurations):

If your vehicle is installed with the SafetyCam along with a data logger or an OEM configuration, the SafetyCam can additionally support videos/snapshots for the following events:

  1. Hard Braking
  2. Hardcore Braking
  3. Sudden Acceleration
  4. Collision Detection
  • Sign Detection Events:
    • Rolling Stop: Triggered when the camera detects a stop sign, but the driver does not come to a complete stop.
  • Tampering & Disconnected Events:
    • Camera Tampered: Triggered when someone attempts to open the camera cover to access the SD card.
    • Camera Disconnected: Triggered when the camera is unplugged or loses power.
