Fleet Insurance - SafetyIQ 11.1.0 Updates

New Features:

  • The Performance and Utilization Module - Relative Trends is a newly introduced feature that provides carriers with a data-driven analysis of fleet safety performance trends over time. It categorizes fleets into Upward, Neutral, and Downward trends based on key safety metrics such as Safety Score, Acceleration, Braking, and Speeding.
  • SafetyIQ now supports switching between Accurate by Milliman Scores and Azuga Safety Scores for risk classification. While Milliman Scores remain the default for INSCO customers, Azuga Scores will be used for Azuga as a carrier and select enterprise accounts. This enhancement offers cost flexibility, allowing fleets to choose between Milliman and Azuga Scores as needed, especially if Milliman Scores—currently free—become a paid service in the future.

Improvement:

  • The Accident Module has been enhanced with two new features: an Export option for accident reports in PDF format and a Trip Details section. This section provides valuable insights, including Start & End Locations, Trip Distance & Duration, and Safety Events, aiding in more effective accident analysis.

New Features:

The Performance and Utilization Module - Relative Trends is a newly introduced feature that provides carriers with a data-driven analysis of fleet safety performance trends over time. It categorizes fleets into Upward, Neutral, and Downward trends based on key safety metrics such as Safety Score, Acceleration, Braking, and Speeding.

The Relative Trends section provides a data-driven analysis of Azuga fleet performance over time, helping carriers track improvements or declines in key safety metrics such as Safety Score, Acceleration, Braking, and Speeding.

With this feature, carriers can monitor how their Azuga fleet portfolio has performed over time and identify fleets that are:

  • Showing improvements (Upward Trend)
  • Maintaining steady performance (Neutral Trend)
  • Underperforming (Downward Trend)

Note:

  • Relative Trends are categorized into Safety Score, Acceleration, Braking, and Speeding.
  • By default, the dashboard displays data for Safety Score Relative Trend. Users can switch between different Relative Trend types, and the dashboard will automatically update to reflect the selected data.

Currently, the Safety Score Relative Trend is the key focus, and the same principles apply to other trend types.

Dashboard Breakdown:

  1. Safety Score Trend Summary: Provides a high-level overview of fleet safety trends:
    • Upward – Indicates improvement.
    • Neutral – Signifies stability.
    • Downward – Reflects a decline.
    • Insufficient Data – Displayed when there is not enough (minimum 3 months) data available.

  1. Trend Distribution: This section visually categorizes fleets into four distinct, color-coded groups based on safety performance trends. It displays the total number of Azuga fleets, making it easy to assess fleet-wide safety performance:
    • Green - Upward Trend: Fleets that have improved their safety scores, indicating better driving behavior.
    • Orange – Downward Trend: Fleets that have seen a decline in safety scores, suggesting deteriorating driving behavior.
    • Pink - Neutral Trend: Fleets that have shown no significant change.
    • Grey - Insufficient Data: Fleets lacking enough data to determine a trend.

  1. Azuga Safety Score: It monitors fleet safety trends over time, assessing improvements using telematics data over relative months of tenure with Azuga. Fleets are grouped based on their time with Azuga, and their performance is analyzed over time to identify trends.

How does Relative Trends work?

Graph Details:

X-axis: Number of months a fleet has been with Azuga.

Y-axis: Two values – Number of Fleets and Average Safety Score

For example, Fleet A joined Azuga in January 2025, and Fleet B joined in February 2025. By May 2025, Fleet A has been with Azuga for five months, while Fleet B has been with Azuga for four months.

Their performance is tracked from their first month with Azuga to identify trends over time.

Note: A fleet must complete at least three months with Azuga to be included in trend reporting. Otherwise, it will be classified under “Insufficient Data”.

As fleet performance fluctuates, the report helps determine whether safety performance is improving over time.

  1. Fleet Details (Upward, Neutral, Downward Trends):

This section lists Fleet names along with their Customer IDs (CIDs) under the Upward, Neutral, and Downward Trends based on their safety score performance over time.

Note:

  • Export Functionality: Currently, this module does not support exporting data. However, this feature will be introduced in May.
  • Fleet Selection: The option to select specific Azuga fleets will be available starting April.

SafetyIQ now supports switching between Accurate by Milliman Scores and Azuga Safety Scores for risk classification.

SafetyIQ now includes the ability to switch between Accurate by Milliman Scores and Azuga Safety Scores for fleet risk classification (high-risk, medium-risk, and low-risk categories). When the flag is disabled, all dashboards will display Azuga Safety Scores instead of Milliman Scores.

Why Was This Change Implemented?

SafetyIQ dashboards primarily use Accurate by Milliman Scores, as most carriers rely on them for risk classification and pricing. However, Milliman is a third-party vendor, and its APIs—currently available on a freemium model—could become paid services in the future.

To proactively manage costs, SafetyIQ has built an integration that allows switching to Azuga Safety Scores as a backup. A backend package enables toggling Milliman Scores on or off as needed.

Who Will Use Azuga Scores?

By default, Milliman Scores will continue for all INSCO customers. However, Azuga Safety Scores will be used for:

  1. Azuga as a Carrier – Internal fleet management.
  2. Direct Azuga Customers – Enterprise accounts such as Shield and Convergint, which do not require Milliman Scores.

Impact on SafetyIQ Dashboards

  • If the backend flag is enabled → SafetyIQ will continue displaying Milliman Scores (default).
  • If the backend flag is disabled → SafetyIQ will switch to Azuga Safety Scores in:
    • Program Dashboard
    • Fleet Dashboard

How Can Customers Enable/Disable Scores?

If Milliman introduces charges, customers have two options:

  1. Continue using Milliman Scores (with additional charges).
  2. Switch to Azuga Safety Scores (no extra cost).

Since this is a backend-only setting, changes must be requested through the CSM or Product/Engineering teams. This package cannot be modified by customers directly.

This enhancement ensures flexibility and cost efficiency, allowing customers to choose between Milliman and Azuga Scores based on their needs.

The Accident Module has been enhanced with two new features: an Export option for accident reports in PDF format and a Trip Details section. This section provides valuable insights, including Start & End Locations, Trip Distance & Duration, and Safety Events, aiding in more effective accident analysis.

The Accident Module now includes two key enhancements:

  1. Export Option for Individual Accident Reports:

Users can now export accident reports in PDF format for printing or sharing. The Export button, available in the Accident section, simplifies access and distribution.

  1. Trip Details display for Accident Events

Users can now view Trip Details for accident events. By default, this section remains collapsed, but users can expand it by clicking the down arrow for a more detailed accident analysis.

The Trip Details section includes:

  • Start & End Locations
  • Trip Distance & Duration
  • Safety Events
