3-Wired Hardwired GPS Installation Guide

Unboxing your hardware

  1. Your 3 – Wired Hardwired GPS device(s) may require additional hardware for installation.
  2. Depending on your order, your contents may include the following items:
  • 3 - Wired Hardwired GPS device
  • Telematics Device

Installation Overview

  • Note the device serial number for later set up on the web or mobile app.
  • Identify the location where the device will be installed.
  • Connect Wire with the “poke and wrap” method.
  • Turn ON the vehicle ignition and wait for a few minutes. All LEDs on the device will

    blink once. Once the green LED remains solid for 5 seconds the connection is

    successful.

  • Using the desktop or mobile app, match the vehicle to the device using VINs and SNs.

Vehicle Installation

Identify the Location for the Installation

  • Ensure your vehicle is turned off.
  • It is preferable to secure the device in a hidden location away from moving parts.
  • Underneath the steering column or Underneath the ​Passenger side dash.​

Note: The device has a label affixed to it that shows which ​ side should face up. The device must be located at​ least 6 inches away from metal to avoid interference ​with the built-in GPS antenna.

Connect Wiring – poke and wrap method

  • After finding all the relevant​ wiring sources, strip wiring insulation to expose wires, and ​connect wiring (poke and wrap method).
  • Connect the red wire to 12V constant power source, the black wire to the ground 0 volts and the white wire connect to ignition source 12 volts on /0 volts off​.
  • Turn ON the vehicle ignition and wait for a few minutes.

Note:

  • Your shop mechanic or installer will know how to ​perform this operation.
  • Device must not be installed in vehicles with a battery source greater than 24V DC.​
  • Identify a constant power source before installing the device. Use a voltage meter to identify wiring and voltage.
  • Make sure your vehicle is parked outside, with a clear view of the sky to ensure proper GPS location.

Confirm connection with status light

  • Once successfully connected, the device will stay solid green for five (5) Seconds. It is now ready to set up in Azuga.
  • If your LED light flashes red, the installation was unsuccessful. Repeat the installation steps. If you continue to have issues, reach out to us at customercare@azuga.com

Device setup

Once the green LED and any cables are fastened out of the way, you are ready to update the device in Azuga.

Note: Devices and vehicles are already created in the portal by Azuga. Vehicle names and device serial numbers are the same by default.

Mobile app setup

  1. Sign into the Azuga Fleet Mobile app and enter your credentials.
  2. Navigate to Dashboard > Utilities > Installation.
  3. Tap on Hardwired GPS Tracker to begin setup.
  4. Enter Device Serial Number. Input the device serial number by:
    • Scanning the barcode on the device.
    • Manually entering the serial number.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Enter the vehicle details such as VIN and license plate, then tap Submit to complete the setup.

Web app setup


  1. Navigate to your Azuga Fleet login page and enter your credentials. Your login credentials would have been sent to you earlier.
  2. To add or edit vehicles, go to the Admin > Vehicles > Vehicles (New)  page.​​

  1. Type the serial number of the device you are holding in the search bar. You will notice that the vehicle name is the same as the serial number.

  1. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the right and select Edit to modify its details.

  1. Fill the Required* fields for your vehicle, including the matching Device. Click Submit to save the vehicle record.​​
  2. Save your changes and repeat these steps for each vehicle using unique names.
