3-Wired OBD II Installation Guide

GETTING STARTED

METHOD A: USING THE AZUGA FLEET MOBILE APP

  1. Log in to the Azuga Fleet Mobile app.
  2. Navigate to Dashboard > Utilities > Installation.
  3. Tap on Hardwired GPS Tracker.
  4. Input the device serial number. This can be done in two ways:
    • By scanning the barcode of the device.
    • By manually entering the serial number.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Enter the vehicle details and tap Submit.

METHOD B: USING THE AZUGA FLEET WEB APP

  1. Look at the device that you received and locate the serial number. The device serial number is a unique 10-digit number.

  1. Log in to the Azuga Fleet web application. The login URL is https://fleet.azuga.com Your login credentials would have been sent to you earlier. Look for an email from do-not-reply@azuga.com in your inbox (check your SPAM folder) to get your username and password.
  2. To add or edit vehicles, go to the Admin > Vehicles page.
  3. Type the serial number of the device you are holding in the search bar. You will notice that the vehicle name is the same as the serial number. Azuga does this by default when the devices are initially tested.
  4. Change the vehicle name and give it a ‘friendly name’ (e.g. ‘John’s Ford F-150’, ‘Parts Van’). This name needs to be unique. You cannot have two vehicles with the same name. Also, fill in the mandatory fields (marked with a *).
  5. Click Submit to save the vehicle record.
  6. Repeat these steps for the remaining vehicles. Note that the vehicle names need to be unique.

INSTALLING THE DEVICE

Note:

• The device MUST NOT be installed in vehicles with a battery source greater than 24V DC.

• Identify a constant power source before installing the device. Use a voltage meter to identify wiring and voltage.

  1. Make sure your vehicle is parked outside, with a clear view of the sky to ensure proper GPS location. If your vehicle is parked in a garage or inside a building, you may not be able to get a GPS location reading right away. However, you will start getting GPS once you drive around in open-sky conditions.

  2. Make sure that your vehicle’s ignition is OFF.

  3. Identify the location where the device will be installed. It is preferable to secure the device in a hidden location away from moving parts.

    Suggested Locations are:

Underneath the steering column or Underneath the Passenger side dash.

The device has a label affixed to it that shows which side should face up. The device must be located at least 6 inches away from metal to avoid interference with the built-in GPS antenna.

  4. After identifying a suitable location and finding all relevant wiring sources, strip wiring insulation to expose wires and connect wiring. This is referred to as a ‘poke and wrap’ method. Your shop mechanic or installer will know how to perform this operation. Connect the red wire to 12V constant power and the black wire to the ground.

  5. Turn ON the vehicle ignition and wait for a few minutes. All LEDs on the device will blink once. Once the green LED remains solid for 5 seconds, proceed to the next step.

Note: If the installation failed, the red LED would blink every 2 seconds.

  6. Now that the LED operation has been verified, place the device in the chosen location and secure it with tie wraps. Even though the device has a plastic housing with slot holes, it is rarely necessary to utilize them. There is no hard requirement to drill holes and secure the device. These slots are available as an option in case there is a particular requirement to bolt the device to a surface.

  7. Your vehicle should now be visible on the Azuga Fleet website.

Note: If the device needs to be removed for service or vehicle diagnostic activity, please be sure to reinstall the device.
