Installation Guide for Azuga Equipment Beacon
Introduction:
The Azuga Equipment Beacon is an inexpensive yet powerful solution for tracking equipment, tools, and other small assets. Designed for seamless integration with your fleet management system, the equipment beacon emits a bluetooth signal that is detected by your Azuga GV620MG asset trackers.
Utilizing the asset tracker’s cellular data connection, the equipment beacon’s location is transmitted back to the Azuga Fleet server in real-time, ensuring you always know where your assets are, enhancing operational efficiency and asset security.

Equipment Beacon Installation:
Prerequisites:
Prior to installing the equipment beacon, consider these prerequisites:

Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface where the equipment beacon will be mounted is clean, dry, and free of dust or debris.
Positioning: Decide on the optimal location for the equipment beacon, ensuring it is easily accessible for maintenance but out of the way of potential impacts.
Installation steps:
Choose the mounting method that best fits the equipment's surface and environment—3M tape, screws, or a combination.
Proceed with mounting the equipment beacon on the equipment:
Using 3M Tape
Remove the protective backing from the 3M tape.
Press the equipment beacon firmly onto the prepared surface.
Hold it in place for a few seconds to ensure strong adhesion.
Using Screws

Align the equipment beacon with the pre-drilled holes.
Secure the equipment beacon using the provided screws.
Ensure the equipment beacon is firmly attached and does not wobble.

- Verify that the equipment beacon is securely mounted and functioning properly.
Maintenance:

Regularly inspect the equipment beacon to ensure it remains securely attached, especially if using 3M tape.

Replacing Equipment Beacon Battery:

Open the Equipment Beacon:
Prepare a clean, dust free area before opening the equipment beacon.
Removing the screws on the back of the equipment beacon using a small Phillips screwdriver.
Carefully lift off the back cover to expose the internal components.
Note: The equipment beacon is sealed with a bead of silicone to protect against water and dust. You may need to apply gentle force to remove the cover. Ensure the cover remains clean to maintain a proper seal when reattaching it. |
- Locate and remove the old battery:
- Inside the equipment beacon, identify the battery compartment marked with a "+" symbol at the top.
- Remove the carriage from the equipment beacon and use a screwdriver to carefully slide the old battery out of the carriage.
- Insert the New Battery:

Take a new CR2477 3V battery and insert it into the carriage, ensuring the "+" side faces up.

- Reassemble the Equipment Beacon:
- Once the new battery is securely in place, reattach the back cover and fasten it with the screws.
